Hello!
My name is Lauren, and I'm an engineer and designer
based in Austin, Texas.

I am a junior Biomedical Engineering major at the University of Texas at Austin,
and I am pursuing the Elements of Computing and Pre-Health Professions Certificates.
My interests include the integration of UI/UX design with medicine and healthcare, computational biomedical engineering, and tissue and genetic engineering.
During my summer 2023 internship with
Biotex, a Houston-based medtech company.
I specialized in designing high-fidelity wireframes in Figma for a variety of software platforms.
I worked in an agile development environment,
where I collaborated closely with engineers to create and develop mockups of my designs and bug test them for flaws.
I created UI/UX designs for both web and native mobile devices,
and I oversaw the development and deployment of my work.
In 2022, I worked in
Dr. Evan Wang's laboratory
at UT Austin studying optogenetic methods of mitigating Parkinson's disease symptoms.
Under his study, I became familiar with rodent neurosurgery, Rattus norvegicus husbandry, and fiber optic cable implantation.
Finally, I also enjoy being involved on campus.
I am the President of the Austin Alt Protein Project,
a university organization that focuses on spreading awareness and acceptance of alternative protein initiatives.
I work closely with the Good Food Institute to organize UT and joint campus events and promote our mission to the Austin community.

I am a self-taught artist and enjoy learning new techniques and refining my design skills.
My eye for detail carries over nicely to UI/UX and product design,
and I hope to continue combining my interests in biology and medicine with my passion for design to create beautiful things.
Fun fact: I coded this website myself with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Flask, and Figma!
I am always learning and aim to push the limits of what I can do with simple and cheap components, and my portfolio is no exception.
Thank you so much for viewing my website and reading my work!
